Australia confirms AD duties on China’s hot rolled coil steel

The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission released Notice No. 2026/043 on May 4, 2026, confirming new anti-dumping (AD) duties on hot rolled coil steel from China.

Effective immediately, the Australian Minister for Industry and Innovation and Minister for Science approved specific dumping margins for Chinese exporters. Among them, Baoshan Iron & Steel faces a 59.1% rate, and Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel and Shanghai Meishan Iron & Steel receive duties of 38.1% and 54.9%, respectively. Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel is taxed at 41.6%, with all other Chinese providers subject to a 79.0% rate.

Specific products are exempt from these measures. This includes grade Q690MD alloy steel complying with standard GB/T 1591-2008 or later versions. Besides, steel grade BS700MCK2 or BS700MCK4 under the standard Q/BQB 316-2018 or later versions, which have a minimum yield strength at or above 680 MPа, will not be taxed as well.

The products involved are under HS codes 7208.10.00.31, 7208.25.00.32, 7208.26.00.33, 7208.27.00.34, 7208.36.00.35, 7208.37.00.36, 7208.38.00.37, 7208.39.00.38, 7208.40.00.39, 7208.53.00.42, 7208.54.00.43, 7208.90.00.30, 7211.14.00.40, 7211.19.00.41, 7225.30.00.17, 7225.40.00.22, 7225.40.00.24, and 7226.91.00.67.
