Egypt’s steel sector is set for a new capacity upgrade as Ezz Flat Steel launches a modernization project of the Quality Strip Production (QSP®) casting and rolling complex at its Ain Sokhna facility, with Italy-based Danieli appointed as the contractor.

The project includes the installation of a new Vacuum Degasser-Oxygen Blowing (VDOB) plant alongside upgrades to automation systems to improve operational efficiency and expand higher-grade steel production.

Upon completion, annual output is expected to increase from 1.175 million tons to 1.5 million tons. The project will be carried out in two phases, with completion targeted by May 2028.
