European Energy Exchange updates 2026 EUA auction calendar

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) published a revised 2026 auction schedule for EU Emission Allowances (EUA) to align with the amended European Climate Law.

Starting June 1, 2026, the calendar incorporates 50 million additional allowances for the Social Climate Fund. To provide these funds, officials deducted 10 million units from volumes previously intended for Member States.

Auction totals face potential changes later this year. Market Stability Reserve (MSR) operations may affect volumes from September through December, and Recovery and Resilience Facility auctions will end once revenue targets are met.

EEX also set the Northern Ireland auction on October 7 at 757,500 EUAs. These adjustments ensure the carbon market reflects current legislative mandates and funding requirements for the upcoming year.
