Presidents of Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea signed a Gulf of Guinea pipeline project agreement, which covers legislative and regulatory measures for pipeline construction, operation, natural gas transportation, and the ownership of gas pipelines.

Nigeria’s President Tinubu said the agreement will bring new opportunities for natural gas exploration and job creation, further strengthening cooperation between the two countries. The two presidents also discussed security issues, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and a broader vision of African unity and self-reliance.

An international affairs analyst said that the economies of both countries were expected to be boosted by the gas pipeline deal through the generation of new jobs and revenue growth.
