Baker Hughes: US rig counts rise, Canada’s keep flat for week ending May 15

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on May 15, 2026, the US rig count was up by three to 551 units compared to the previous week.

Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas dropped by one to 128 units, that for oil hiked by five to 415 units, and miscellaneous rigs dropped by one to eight. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 25 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count remained flat at 124 units from the previous week, including 48 gas rigs (up by one week on week), 76 oil rigs (down by one week on week), and zero miscellaneous rigs (unchanged week on week). Canada’s rig number went up by three units compared to the same period a year ago.
