South Africa starts to investigate steel sections from China & Thailand for dumping issues

11 Oct 2024 16:03 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) launched an anti-dumping (AD) investigation on imports of U-sections, I-sections, and H-sections of iron or non-alloy steel originating in China and Thailand, following an application lodged by ArcelorMittal Rails and Structures Ltd Pty, the only producer of these products.

The applicant provided sufficient evidence for the initiation of the investigation, saying that the subject goods from the two countries were being dumped into the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and causing material injury to the industry.

The products involved are U-sections, I-sections, and H-sections of iron or non-alloy steel, not further worked than hot-rolled, hot-drawn, or extruded, with a height of equal to or greater than 80 mm (excluding H-sections of a height more than 200mm) and equal angles of iron or non-alloy steel, not further worked than hot-rolled, hot-drawn, or extruded. These products are under tariff sub-headings 7216.31, 7216.32, 7216.33, and 7216.50.
