According to Jorge Alvarado, president of the Bolivian new steel company Empresa Siderúrgica del Mutún (ESM), the industrial complex has already reached 94%. Based on this construction progress, the inauguration is planned for late December of this year, with the presence of Bolivian President Luis Arce.

Alvarado added that his company will produce steel starting in January for both the Bolivian and foreign markets.

The new ESM complex has the capacity to produce 200,000 tons of corrugated rebars per year, which means the substitution of imports of said product by almost 50% in the country, around US$200 million per year.
