Turkey’s billet & bloom imports soar in Oct m-o-m, y-o-y

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s imports of billets and blooms surged to around 628,500 tons in October, marking a significant month-on-month increase of 97.6% and an extraordinary year-on-year rise of 500%.

The import value of these products in October reached approximately US$334 million, reflecting a 90.9% growth compared to the previous month and an impressive 482% increase on an annual basis.

In the first ten months of this year, Turkey imported a total of roughly 2.8 million tons of billets and blooms, a year-on-year hike of 5.3%. However, the cumulative value of these imports declined by 1.2% year on year US$1.56 billion.
