Turkey reports slump in Jan-Feb wire rod exports & export value

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey’s wire rod exports amounted to around 102,000 tons in the first two months of this year, significantly falling by 52% compared to the same period a year ago. The export value also plunged by 55% year on year to roughly US$59 million.

Among them, Romania was the main export destination with roughly 42,000 tons, a year-on-year drop of 35%. Australia followed with around 8,300 tons, falling by 16% year on year. Libya ranked third with about 7,500 tons.

In February alone, Turkey exported about 47,000 tons of wire rod, a month-on-month decrease of 15% and a year-on-year drop of 67%. The value of these exports reached nearly US$27 million, down by 16% month on month and by 70% year on year.
