Baker Hughes: US rig counts fall, Canada’s increase w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on June 27, 2025, the US rig count decreased by seven to 547 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas dropped by two to 109 units, and that for oil decreased by six to 432 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 34 units or 6%.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count hiked by one to 140 units from the previous week, including 94 oil rigs (up by one week on week) and 46 gas rigs (unchanged week on week). Canada’s rig number slid by 36 units compared to the same period a year ago.
