Peru’s National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (INDECOPI) has decided to impose provisional anti-dumping (AD) duties on imported wire rod originating in China to protect the domestic industry.

The provisional AD duty is set at US$64.6/ton, valid for four months. It aims to prevent further economic impact during the investigation.

The initial investigation was launched in January this year, following a complaint filed by domestic producer Corporación Aceros Arequipa S.A., alleging unfair competition.

The affected products are non-alloy, low and high carbon steel wire rods, with a circular section and smooth surface, and with a diameter ranging from 5.5 mm to 16 mm, under HS codes 7213.20.00.00, 7213.91.10.00, 7213.91.90.00, and 7213.99.00.00.
