Angang Steel develops new materials for LNG pipeline projects

22 Jul 2025 16:15 reported by Joy Liu

China’s Angang Steel recently secured a contract for the Fujian LNG terminal's associated outbound pipeline project. For this undertaking, Angang developed a 21mm thick L485M hot-rolled product for low-temperature LNG applications. This new material surpasses their previous maximum thickness of 18.36mm, meeting the project's strict demands for increased strength and toughness.

To achieve this, Angang's steel research institute collaborated with relevant departments to refine alloy composition and rolling processes, completing a successful initial trial order of 1,000 tons, with product performance satisfying clients’ demand. This achievement contributes to expanding Angang's presence in the pipeline hot-rolled coil market.
