Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts increase w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on July 18, 2025, the US rig count rose by seven to 544 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas rose by nine to 117 units, and that for oil decreased by two to 422 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 42 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count hiked by ten to 172 units from the previous week, including 120 oil rigs (up by eight week on week) and 52 gas rigs (up by two week on week). Canada’s rig number slid by 25 units compared to the same period a year ago.
