US’ OCTG imports grow in May m-o-m, y-o-y

According to preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 190,000 tons of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) in May, rising by 6% compared to the previous month and by 11% from the same month a year ago.

Among them, imports from South Korea accounted for the largest proportion, totaling roughly 62,000 tons, a month-on-month surge of 87% and a year-on-year fall of 29%. Taiwan ranked second with 29,000 tons, followed by Canada’s 20,300 tons and Austria’s 12,000 tons.

The value generated by OCTG imports in May amounted to approximately US$233 million, up by 2.4% month on month and down by 11% year on year.
