Greek steel pipe supplier Corinth Pipeworks, part of the steel pipe division of Belgium-based Cenergy Holdings, announced it has been awarded a supply contract for the Greece-North Macedonia gas interconnector project.

Corinth Pipeworks will supply 123km of 28-inch helical submerged arc welded (HSAW) pipeline for the North Macedonia section (55km in Greece and 68km in North Macedonia). The supplied pipeline is also certified for 100% hydrogen transportation. It will be jointly developed by Greek gas transmission system operator DESFA and North Macedonia's NOMAGAS and is expected to be officially put into operation in the first half of 2027.

The project will not only connect the two countries' gas transmission systems, improving cross-border energy flows and supply security, but also represents an important step towards decarbonization and energy resilience. In addition, it consolidates the company's leadership in Europe's strategic energy infrastructure.
