Baker Hughes: US rig counts unchanged, Canada’s rise w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on August 15, 2025, the US rig count was unchanged at 539 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas dropped by one to 122 units, and that for oil rose by one to 412 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 47 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count rose by three to 183 units from the previous week, including 126 oil rigs (up by four week on week) and 57 gas rigs (unchanged week on week). Canada’s rig number slid by 34 units compared to the same period a year ago.
