According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on August 22, 2025, the US rig count dropped by one at 538 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas kept flat at 122 units, and that for oil fell by one to 411 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 47 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count decreased by three to 180 units from the previous week, including 123 oil rigs (down by three week on week) and 56 gas rigs (down by one week on week). Canada’s rig number slid by 39 units compared to the same period a year ago.
