Taiwan's steel pipe mills raise prices twice in a row

27 Aug 2025 15:56 reported by Alston Tsai

A A A
It's understood that Taiwan's carbon steel pipe mills raised their offers before China Steel Corp. (CSC) announced its new rate, as both hot-rolled coil (HRC) and hot-dip galvanized steel (HGI) prices had already increased. Furthermore, after the price announcement, pipe mills can only continue to reflect cost increases by CSC and Chung Hung Steel.

However, pipe exports remain severely challenged by the US' 50% tariff on steel and aluminum. In addition to high tariffs on metal materials such as machinery, furniture, and sports equipment, the domestic demand for scaffolding and foundation engineering is also in its traditional off-season, suppressing actual requests.

Therefore, market participants tend to be conservative toward the current upward trend. Besides, the oversupply situation has not improved, and overall buying momentum has not fully recovered.
