According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on August 29, 2025, the US rig count dropped by two to 536 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas fell by three to 119 units, and that for oil went up by one to 412 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 47 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count decreased by five to 175 units from the previous week, including 120 oil rigs (down by three week on week) and 55 gas rigs (down by one week on week). Canada’s rig number dropped by 45 units compared to the same period a year ago.
