Brazil includes 2 new long steel products in import quotas

12 Sep 2025 15:39 reported by Bob Liu

A A A
Starting from August 22, the Brazilian government has included two new long steel products in the import quota system. Buyers can now import up to 21,330 tons of I-beams and H-beams with a minimum cross-sectional height of 80 mm at reduced tariffs, with tariff reductions ranging from 9% to 13%.

If imports exceed this quota, a 25% tariff will apply from now until December 21. After December 21, the quotas for these two products will be recalculated, and importers will again be eligible for the lower tariff rates. This move strengthens Brazil's safeguard measures to curb the surge in steel imports.
