On September 18, 2025, India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the launch of an anti-dumping (AD) investigation on copper data cables imported from China, following an application filed by Indian companies, Birla Cable Limited and Sterlite Technologies Limited.

The investigation will review whether Chinese copper data cables are being sold at unfairly low prices, which could harm India's domestic industry.

The investigation period covers April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, and the injury period for the investigation covers the periods FY 2021-22, FY 202223, FY 2023-2024, and the investigation period.

The products involved are copper data cables under HS code 854449, which fall within Chapter 85 for electrical machinery and equipment and parts thereof.
