US’ hot-rolled steel bar exports drop in Jul m-o-m, y-o-y

According to statistics from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US exported around 24,000 tons of hot-rolled steel bars in July, a slight decrease of 0.1% compared to the preceding month and a drop of 25% from the same month of the previous year.

Among them, the delivery to Mexico accounted for the largest proportion, with around 15,400 tons, a month-on-month rise of 2.4% and a year-on-year decrease of 22%. The second-largest destination was Canada with roughly 7,600 tons.

In terms of value, exports of these products amounted to nearly US$39 million, down by 10.6% month on month and by 24% year on year.
