According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on September 26, 2025, the US rig count rose by seven to 549 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas was down by one to 117 units, and that for oil went up by six to 424 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 38 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by one to 190 units from the previous week, including 129 oil rigs (up by one week on week) and 60 gas rigs (unchanged week on week). Canada’s rig number dropped by 28 units compared to the same period a year ago.
