Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts hike w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on October 17, 2025, the US rig count grew by one to 548 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas was up by one to 121 units, and that for oil was flat at 418 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 37 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by five to 198 units from the previous week, including 136 oil rigs (up by seven week on week) and 61 gas rigs (down by two week on week). Canada’s rig number dropped by 19 units compared to the same period a year ago.
