Ukraine’s DMZ to construct new above-ground water pipeline

27 Oct 2025 15:24 reported by Eva Chen

Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ), a Ukrainian steelmaker, will construct a new water pipeline to save energy and improve water supply efficiency.

Originally, technical water was supplied from onshore pumping station No. 2 via an underground pipeline, with a portion of the pipeline running off-site. This complicated pipeline maintenance and monitoring resulted in additional water losses and energy costs.

DMZ has therefore decided to construct a new above-ground pipeline to supply technical water from the coastal pumping station No. 1 to the treatment facilities at rolling mill No. 2.

This pipeline will be 1.6 kilometers shorter than the existing pipeline. This will not only allow for timely inspection, maintenance, and real-time monitoring of the pipeline but will also reduce costs and improve production safety.

In addition, DMZ plans to use the new system to reduce electricity consumption by pumping equipment, minimize technical water losses, and improve overall resource efficiency.
