Tenaris, a leading global steel pipe supplier headquartered in Luxembourg, has secured a major contract to supply materials for the Trion project, Mexico’s first ultra-deepwater project, located 180 kilometers off the Mexican coastline.

The company will provide 12,000 tons of casing and tubing, including 1,600 tons of the Super 13 Chrome steel grade, under its Rig Direct® service model. Besides, Tenaris will deliver around 16,000 tons of pipes for flowlines and risers, along with specialized coatings for corrosion protection and flow assurance.

The Trion project is a joint project between Woodside Energy’s affiliate, the Operator holding a 60% stake, and Pemex with a 40% share, situated at a 2,500-meter water depth. With first oil expected in 2028, the project will have a nameplate production capacity of 100,000 barrels per day.
