India’s Ministry of Steel has approved ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India)'s plan to build an iron ore slurry pipeline running from Chhattisgarh to Andhra Pradesh via Odisha.

This approval is a significant step toward implementing the company’s 17 million tonne per annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant planned for Anakapalle, Andhra Pradesh. The facility is set to become one of India’s largest greenfield steel plants, with 8.2 MTPA planned in the first phase.

The pipeline will transport iron ore as a slurry, establishing a cost-efficient logistics corridor that reduces dependency on road and rail transport for the project.
