US’ OCTG imports rise in Aug y-o-y, Taiwan leads supply

According to preliminary Census Bureau data from the US Department of Commerce (USDOC), the US imported around 139,000 tons of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) in August, falling by 10% compared to the previous month but rising by 11% from the same month a year ago.

Taiwan became the leading source of US OCTG imports in August, supplying about 30,000 tons, followed by South Korea, the top supplier in the previous month, with 22,000 tons. Canada ranked third with 13,500 tons.

In terms of value, OCTG imports were approximately US$163 million, down by 15% month on month and by 1.4% year on year.
