Baker Hughes: US rig counts drop, Canada’s increase w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on December 12, 2025, the US rig count dropped by one to 548 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas fell by two to 127 units, and that for oil hiked by one to 414 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 41 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by one to 192 units from the previous week, including 123 oil rigs (down by three week on week) and 69 gas rigs (up by four week on week). Canada’s rig number rose by one unit compared to the same period a year ago.
