Metinvest expands into EU with Romanian pipe plant buy

Ukraine's Metinvest has bought ArcelorMittal's steel pipe plant, Tubular Products Iasi S.A. (AMTP Iasi), in Romania. This is Metinvest's first production site in Romania.

The plant can make 240,000 tons of welded structural pipes per year and will be fully integrated next year. It will keep all current staff. The facility makes steel pipes used in construction and infrastructure.

Metinvest plans to supply the Romanian plant with about 180,000 tons of hot-rolled coil yearly from its Ukrainian operations.

The company says this move connects its business in Ukraine with the EU market. It will help meet EU demand and support Ukraine's future rebuilding needs.

The deal received approval from the EU and Romanian regulators.
