voestalpine Wire Rod Austria has contracted Danieli to upgrade its Donawitz production facility. This project adapts the mill to process larger billet sizes, specifically 180-mm squares and 205-mm rounds, while maintaining its current 150-mm square capacity. The new configuration also allows for future expansion into 230-mm round formats.

The technical scope includes a reheating furnace overhaul by Danieli Centro Combustion to manage multiple shapes and an automation upgrade. Also, Danieli Morgårdshammar will install new rolling stands and high-pressure descalers at the breakdown mill.

These changes increase production flexibility and lower operational costs. By modernizing this infrastructure, voestalpine secures its ability to meet evolving market requirements for premium-quality wire products.
