Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts drop w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on December 19, 2025, the US rig count dropped by six to 542 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas kept flat at 127 units, and that for oil decreased by eight to 406 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 47 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count decreased by seven to 185 units from the previous week, including 119 oil rigs (down by four week on week) and 66 gas rigs (down by three week on week). Canada’s rig number rose by 19 units compared to the same period a year ago.
