According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on December 23, 2025, the US rig count rose by three to 545 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas kept flat at 127 units, and that for oil increased by three to 409 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 44 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count decreased by 67 to 118 units from the previous week, including 59 oil rigs (down by 60 week on week) and 59 gas rigs (down by seven week on week). Canada’s rig number rose by 23 units compared to the same period a year ago.
