Sidersa to launch Latin America’s first Danieli green steel minimill

Argentinian steelmaker Sidersa has partnered with Danieli to build a MIDA QLP-DUE minimill in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, Buenos Aires. Representing Argentina's first new complete minimill in five decades, the facility will process local scrap into 360,000 tons of high-quality wire rod and straight bars annually.

The plant utilizes Danieli-patented technologies, including the Digimelter, Digirefiner, and Octocaster, which eliminate billet reheating to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. Designed to be hybrid-ready, the system integrates renewable energy through the Q-One power feeder.

Targeted for a startup in the first half of 2028, this project aims to provide sustainable steel for local construction and international markets while maintaining a minimal environmental footprint.
