Baker Hughes: US rig counts fall, Canada’s grow w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on January 16, 2025, the US rig count fell by one to 543 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas fell by two to 122 units, and that for oil increased by one to 410 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 37 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count increased by 29 to 226 units from the previous week, including 150 oil rigs (up by 22 week on week) and 76 gas rigs (up by seven week on week). Canada’s rig number fell by three units compared to the same period a year ago.
