Baker Hughes: US rig counts rise, Canada’s drop w-o-w

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on February 6, 2026, the US rig count rose by five to 551 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas increased by five to 130 units, and that for oil grew by one to 412 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 35 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count decreased by four to 228 units from the previous week, including 155 oil rigs (down by one week on week) and 73 gas rigs (down by three week on week). Canada’s rig number fell by 21 units compared to the same period a year ago.
