German equipment manufacturer SMS group will supply a high-speed bar and wire rod mill to Indian steelmaker Kalyani Ispat’s plant in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. The new mill will have a capacity of 500,000 tons per year, producing rebars with diameters of 8 to 40 millimeters and wire rods of 5.5 to 20 millimeters.

To reduce carbon emissions, the new mill introduces induction heating technology and skips the traditional heating furnace. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in the third quarter of 2026. 

According to the company, the new mill aims to supply the growing demand for steel in the Asian infrastructure and construction market.
