PT. Bahagia Steel, a Surabaya-based round bar and rebar producer, has partnered with SMS group to install a new twin-strand high-speed delivery (HSD®) rebar production line at its Kampung Wringinanom site.

Scheduled for completion in late 2026, this greenfield project aims to satisfy rising domestic demand for construction steel. The facility will process rebars ranging from 5.2 to 32 millimeters in diameter, reaching speeds of 45 meters per second.

SMS group provides the mechanical and automation equipment, including a waterbox cooling system, the win-strand HSD® line, and a high-speed shear upstream of the finishing block. This configuration ensures precise bar counting and tighter tolerances compared to traditional slitting methods.

By implementing this energy-efficient technology, Bahagia Steel expects to increase material yield by roughly 2% and improve overall production capacity for regional infrastructure projects.
