Taiwan’s CSC & Dragon Steel hike Q2 steel bar and wire rod prices

19 Mar 2026 16:39 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Taiwan’s carbon steel producer China Steel Corporation (CSC) and its subsidiary, Dragon Steel Corporation, raised their second-quarter prices for steel bar and wire rod products by NT$1,000 per ton today (March 19). This decision ends two consecutive quarters of stagnant pricing and represents the first upward adjustment in nine months. The hike applies specifically to CSC’s steel bar and wire rod products and Dragon Steel’s electric arc furnace al-killed wire rods.

Market participants said that although export orders from downstream industries such as screws remain weak, rising raw material costs and the depreciation of the New Taiwan Dollar have forced exporters to increase their export volume. This move is in line with most pricing trends among major Asian steel mills.

Following a price drop in the third quarter of 2025 and flat pricing throughout the fourth quarter in 2025 and the first quarter in 2026, these new quotes reflect a transition toward higher production costs across the local supply chain.
