Marubeni-Itochu Steel establishes local steel pipe subsidiary in Guyana

20 Mar 2026 15:37 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Marubeni-Itochu Steel has established Marubeni-Itochu Tubulars (Guyana) Inc. in Georgetown to support the nation’s rapidly expanding energy sector. Since starting crude oil production in 2019, Guyana has had exceptional economic growth and frequent new oil field discoveries.

Although the company previously supplied steel pipes for offshore projects from abroad, this new local entity responds to government and client requests for increased local content and domestic operations.

From this base, the company will manage supply chains and provide specialized services for the oil and gas industry. This move aims to strengthen local infrastructure and contribute directly to Guyana’s regional economic development through stable material distribution.
