Taiwan’s rebar prices face possible increase next week

20 Mar 2026 16:36 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
After the recent price hikes of NT$500-600 per ton, Taiwan’s steel rebar market expects further upward movement. Current calculations based on Chinese billet import prices indicate that domestic rebar costs remain inverted, leaving room for an additional NT$300-500 rise.

Although steel mills reached their sales targets through limited bookings, production costs are still high compared to selling prices.

Future price direction depends on international raw materials and buyer acceptance. If scrap metal prices remain high, rebar quotes may rise to reflect cost changes.

However, with freight and oil prices stabilizing, the market now focuses on downstream demand. If global materials maintain steady, buyers might pause to observe before committing to new orders.
