GMH Gruppe commissions second inductive single-bar tempering system

GMH Gruppe has commissioned its second inductive single-rod tempering system (EVA 2) at the Georgsmarienhütte plant, completing a EUR 21.5 million investment.

This new facility doubles the company’s capacity for electric heat treatment to 35,000 tons annually. The first system handles smaller diameters, and EVA 2 processes steel bars between 35 and 100 millimeters for use in wind turbines and automotive components.

By replacing natural gas with renewable electricity, these systems aim to reduce CO2 emissions by over 50,000 tons within a decade. This expansion meets the group’s goal to achieve climate-neutral production by 2039.

The project received EUR 2.2 million in funding from Germany’s federal decarbonization program to support sustainable industrial manufacturing.
