Baker Hughes: US & Canada’s rig counts slide w-o-w for week ending Mar 20

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on March 20, 2026, the US rig count was down by one to 552 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas fell by two to 131 units, and that for oil rose by two to 414 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 41 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count decreased by twenty to 177 units from the previous week, including 114 oil rigs (down by seventeen week on week) and 63 gas rigs (down by two week on week). Canada’s rig number fell by three units compared to the same period a year ago.
