Taiwan’s Feng Hsin increases rebar prices due to rising material costs

Feng Hsin Steel Co., Ltd., a leading long steel producer in Taiwan, raised prices for rebar and scrap by NT$200 per ton this week, with section steel rising by NT$500 per ton.

New list prices are at NT$18,700 for rebar, NT$9,600 for scrap, and NT$24,500 for section steel.

The rebar adjustment is in line with market expectations as manufacturers pass on higher raw material expenses, pushing southern Taiwan rates back to the NT$18,000 level.

Global trends drove these price hikes, as US containerized scrap rose to US$353 per ton while Australian iron ore reached US$110.45 per ton.

Despite quiet buying activity last week, steel mills prioritized cost reflection over immediate demand. Therefore, these updated figures represent a multi-month pricing strategy focused on maintaining margins against volatile international input costs.
