Baker Hughes: US rig counts rise, Canada’s fall for week ending Apr 2

According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on April 2, 2026, the US rig count was up by five to 548 units compared to the previous week. Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas rose by three to 130 units, and that for oil hiked by two to 411 units. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 42 units.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count decreased by 11 to 142 units from the previous week, including 54 gas rigs (down by four week on week) and 88 oil rigs (down by seven week on week). Canada’s rig number fell by 11 units compared to the same period a year ago.
