Vallourec, a global leader in premium seamless tubular solutions in France, has partnered with California Resources Corporation (CRC) to support the Carbon TerraVault I (CTV I) project at Elk Hills Field in Kern County.

This development, California’s first carbon capture and storage (CCS) site with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Class VI permits, utilizes Vallourec’s advanced tubular solutions for CO2 injection into depleted oil and gas reservoirs. To ensure long-term storage safety, Vallourec delivered corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) pipes integrated with premium VAM® 21 connections.

Planned for a launch in spring 2026, CTV I aims to store 1.46 million metric tons of CO2 annually, helping California reach carbon neutrality by 2045.

The project also utilized Vallourec’s CLEANWELL® dope-free technology for more sustainable onshore operations. VAM® Field Service experts provided on-site support to ensure the flawless running of multiple string sizes and accessories for the project.
