US extends AD & CVD duties on rebar from Turkey, Mexico

9 Apr 2026 14:56 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
The US International Trade Commission (USITC) determined that revoking the existing anti-dumping (AD) duties on Mexican steel concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) and countervailing duties (CVD) on Turkish rebar imports would likely lead to the continuation or recurrence of material injury to the US industry within a reasonably foreseeable time. Therefore, existing duty orders on these products will remain in effect.

Following a five-year sunset review initiated on September 2, 2025, the USITC conducted an expedited assessment based on sufficient evidence provided by the Rebar Trade Action Coalition (RTAC). The commission concluded that domestic responses to market conditions were adequate, but those from foreign producers were insufficient.

The final ruling, submitted on April 3, 2026, ensures that trade protections stay active to prevent renewed economic harm to American steel manufacturers.
