According to the report from Baker Hughes, in the week ending on April 24, 2026, the US rig count was up by one to 544 units compared to the previous week.

Among them, the number of drilling rigs for natural gas rose by four to 129 units, that for oil dropped by three to 407 units, and miscellaneous rigs remained at eight. The total number had a year-on-year decline of 43 units, or approximately 7%.

During the same period, Canada’s rig count kept flat at 130 units from the previous week, including 52 gas rigs (down by one week on week), 78 oil rigs (up by one week on week), and zero miscellaneous rigs (unchanged week on week). Canada’s rig number hiked by two units compared to the same period a year ago.
