US ITC confirms injury from subsidized rebar imports from Algeria

28 Apr 2026 15:59 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
The US International Trade Commission (USITC) determined that imported steel concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) from Algeria causes material injury to American producers. This decision stems from a petition submitted by the Rebar Trade Action Coalition.

Previously, the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) calculated a 72.94% subsidy rate for Tosyali Iron Steel Industry Algeria SPA, and this rate also applies to other Algerian suppliers, as the USDOC determined they received countervailable subsidies.

These products, classified under Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) subheadings 7213.10.00, 7214.20.00, and 7228.30.80, are now subject to these trade remedies.
