A new EUR 40 million tube mill is now operational at Wuppermann Metalltechnik’s site in Altmünster, Austria. This facility increases capacity for premium steel products, specifically focusing on high-strength profiles with tensile strengths reaching 1,000 MPa. Construction on the plant started in early 2024, leading to the commencement of production in mid-2025.

The site integrates advanced automation, high-bay storage, and digital logistics to ensure precise quality and operational efficiency. Sustainability is a core feature, as geothermal probes provide carbon-neutral heating for the building.

By processing advanced steel grades such as DP800, DP980, and 22MnB5, the mill secures Wuppermann’s status as a technological leader in the European market. Executive leadership of the company said that this investment enables long-term growth and strengthens the regional production base while maintaining financial stability.
